Located in the heart of the Alpes in La Vallée d’Abondance only few
steps from Switzerland, Châtel is an authentic Savoy village with a
family character. Year after year Châtel has gradually been created in
harmony with nature and the slope. The habitations are in majority
dressed in wood.
In winter, as Châtel adorns itself with its dense white blanket, you
have at this fantastic place the possibility of practicing your favorite
winter sports and to spend an unforgettable vacation. Both beginners and
skilled skieurs can find pistes at their level.
The Châtel ski area consists of 83 km of pistes.
Maximum altitude 2200 m (7200 ft) – Minimum altitude 1100 m (3600 ft)

The ski domain Châtel consists of two main sectors:
Super-Châtel/Barbossine and Linga/Pré-la-Joux, not to mention the ski
lifts in the village.
From Châtel the direct ski connections with Avoriaz and the Swiss
resorts Torgon and Morgins give you access to the huge ski area Portes
du Soleil.
The Châtel lift-pass is valid for the ski domain Châtel but also for the
Swiss resort of Torgon and the Braitaz section of La Chapelle
d’Abondance.
In all 58 ski-lifts, 130 km (80 miles) of pistes and 72 pistes.
Cross-country skiing:
The 3 resorts of La Vallée d’Abondance (Châtel, La Chapelle d'Abondance & Abondance) have joined together in order to
propose a unique area that runs along with the Dranse river and offers
about 60 km of connected pistes situated between 900m and 1300 m
altitude.
In all 15 full-drawn and marked pistes, 1 black 4 red, 6 blue and 4
green.
